China Wind Power
Beijing

BaltShip recently attended the 5th annual China Wind power exhibition in Beijing, P.R. China – which was time postponed due to the Chinese Congress Election. As seen previous years the attendance and participants remained increased – seen from our perspective we’ll see an increasing demand for the Chinese development in the national wind farms, but also a growing demand for export for Latin America and European countries especially. The recent years, China has been an important and strong market for BaltShip, nonetheless we trust to see a continuous and strong interest for our solutions from the export markets in particular.
This underlines the fact that we need to be present at the latest year’s important fairs. BaltShip (China) had the key staff on the fair in rotation during the three days; further BaltShip’s Sales Director, Jeppe Frank attended the fair all days. In addition, many contacts and relations were established and maintained during the three day fair.

Wind Power India

Together with our Indian partner UGL, BaltShip participated in the second edition of “Wind Power India 2012” exhibition in Chennai, India from 28-30 November 2012.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Minister of New & Renewable energy who gave a very interesting speech where he presented the government’s firm support to the wind energy sector.

We met many of the big well-known companies, but it was interesting to see a lot of the smaller companies supporting the wind industry as well. All in all, many participants and visitors had chosen to be present at the exhibition.

The Indian wind market is growing rapidly, with the current installed capacity of more than 16,000 MW and an annual market of up to 5 GW by 2015. India, as a country, has a very big demand & supply gap for power. The continued increase in demand for power due to overall growth and the priority in policy for renewable energy (wind, solar, bio, etc.), has turned India into one of the most dynamic wind power markets in the world. It will be very interesting for BaltShip to keep a close watch on the development happening in the industry and we aim at having a greater presence and visibility in the Indian market.

At Wind Power India 2012 we showcased our capability and presence in the wind sector. Together with representatives from UGL, we were successful in establishing new contacts, generating good business leads and maintaining old relations.

Expansion in China

Since the beginning of 2012, business has grown in BaltShip China and has lead to expansion of our office in Beijing.

Visits from Denmark

During the last couple of months, we have addressed some new initiatives in BaltShip China. The group CEO, Niels Aage Nielsen and the HSEQ Manager, Kirsten Sondergaard, have visited the Beijing office not only to brief the employees about business plans and activities, but also to start up some new initiatives within HSEQ and CSR. Their visits have brought closer cooperation and a better understanding of the group structure and the direction of future opportunities.

BaltShip employee runs the marathon

BaltShip was proud to be represented at this year's premier running event, namely the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore run! The marathon kicked off in the early morning of Sunday 2 December 2012, and the route brought the runners through beautiful downtown Singapore. This year, an amazing 60,000 runners participated!

Baltship (Singapore) was represented by Sales & Development Manager Mr. Arvind Kumar Tiwari who had trained hard for several months, which enabled him to take up the challenge of running his first marathon ever.

Running 42.195 km under tropical conditions adds to the ‘normal’ physical and mental challenges of a full marathon. Arvind managed the run in the true usual spirit of a BaltShip team; no mission is impossible! Arvind made it to the finish line and is happy to have completed his own personal mission impossible!

The word is that he is already considering running a marathon soon again! Well done Arvind!

Movember in BaltShip

Several BaltShip employees became walking, talking bilboards for the 30 days of November by growing a mustache with the aim of raising vital funds and awareness for men’s health issues.

The team managed to raise DKK 6,550,- for the good cause and ended as number 49 on the list of 100 participating teams.

Christmas donation

For 2012, BaltShip has chosen to split the Christmas donation between the local church in Aarhus and SOS Children's Village.

At Christmas, the local church helps families that are in a less fortunate situation, mainly families with children and single parents.

SOS Children's Village helps give orphants a family and a caring home and supports families in taking care of themselves so children are not left alone.
